Civil Liberties???

I had a bad day dream: I am walking about the house ranting, when suddenly one of my children interrupts me and asks what are civil liberties and why I am so upset?
Well the thing that prompted such a daydream was reading the title of a news article "Bush says feds can open mail without warrant". As usual you can click on the title of this blog to read the article.

If you buy from Amazon, you need to read this

What most Amazon.com customers do not know about is that Amazon has a 30 day price policy. It works like this: You buy a item on the 10th of the month and by the 20th the price dropped $10. Simply call amazon and ask for your rebate. As long the price drop occurs within 30 days of your purchase. Slate Magazine has an article with all the details. Click here to read.

"Perhaps your grip on reality is not quite as firm as you might have hoped" - Todd Connelly

"They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin

Words are chameleons, which reflect the color of their environment. -Learned Hand, jurist (1872-1961)

What does all of this do to the best minds among the students? Most of them endure their college years with the teeth-clenched determination of serving out a jail sentence. The psychological scars they acquire in the process are incalculable. But they struggle as best they can to preserve their capacity to think, sensing dimly that the essence of the torture is an assault on their mind. And what they feel toward their school ranges from mistrust to resentment to contempt to hatred – intertwined with a sense of exhaustion and excruciating boredom.
